Cryptids, projects

Finally, a post about cryptids

Fitz and I made another game. This one was a loose simulation of the real-life events surrounding the Silver Bridge collapse and the cryptid sightings (Mothman!) leading up to it. Our game was designed for a contest, and MAYBE suffers from the restrictions in the contest rules. I like a judicious or an unexpected use of dice, and this has neither. But we had fun making it, and thematically, I think it works, with or without the dice.

December, 1967. The day after the bridge collapse. You, the paranormal investigator, move around the Point Pleasant area, looking for hard evidence of the Mothman. Each time you surround a triangular sector, you’ve scoured/secured that area, and if Mothman appears there, you will obtain solid evidence.

There are dice. There’s a timer (a calendar day track that gives you 7 days for your search). There’s a map (Open Maps depiction of Point Pleasant). There’s old and murky black and white photos.

Our new website for board game design notes and game analysis describes it here: https://cicadagamesstudio.com/hunt-for-mothman/
