In which I explain the importance of keeping good research notes and reading lists.

I came to this firmly held-belief by losing the one or two sentence source–the impetus and controlling idea–of the manuscript I’ve been working on since 2013 (with 1 1/2 other novels written in between).

In short, the origin of the key idea is lost to me. Extremely annoying and entirely my own fault.
